Outstation cabs are priced in two different ways, and picking the right one can change your fare by thousands of rupees. Here is how to decide.
How one-way pricing works
A one-way fare is a fixed price for a single drop. You are not charged for the car's journey back, because the operator finds another customer for the return. One-way fares are usually available on busy routes such as Jaipur to Delhi or Delhi to Agra.
How round-trip pricing works
A round trip is charged per kilometre, with a minimum distance per day (commonly 250 km), plus a daily driver allowance. The car and driver stay with you for the whole trip.
Side by side
| One way | Round trip | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | Fixed per route | Per km, daily minimum |
| Car stays with you | No | Yes |
| Best for | Moving cities, catching flights | Holidays, same-day return, multi-city |
Which should you choose?
- Coming back within a day or two? A round trip is usually cheaper than two separate one-way fares, and the car is ready when you are.
- Staying longer or not returning? Book one-way.
- Visiting several towns? Round trip, so you are not arranging a new cab in every city.
Does the fare include tolls, state tax, parking and the driver allowance? A low base fare can grow quickly if these are added later.
